Finding the Perfect Balance of City and Mountains

An active family of three, Ashley and Kristen Williams, daughter Aleya and ragdoll cat Mozart knew they needed to live in a community that fits their family’s outdoorsy lifestyle. Their passions of teaching yoga, golf, hiking in the mountains, and anything on the lake, made Harmony the perfect place for them to call home. “I’m a big photographer, so being outside is very near to my heart.”

Through his work with Qualico, Ashley was lucky enough to have toured Harmony in 2018/2019, early in its inception. “My first impression of Harmony, I was blown away by the amenities that were being offered, the location and proximity to the mountain parks, the future promise of a golf course, shopping is going to be close by, and…lots of outdoor space and areas to go walking and enjoy the outside.” With their daughter Aleya turning 11 this year and starting grade 7, having her new school so close in the neighbouring community of Springbank was also a plus.

“We chose Harmony over other communities, first and foremost, because it is so close to the mountains—we value balance in our family, so having the opportunity to have the city and mountains equal distance apart was important to us. And also the offering for Aleya, the ability to run outside, and we can see the park from our primary bedroom, it’s exceptional.”

The Williams

Currently living in the southwest Calgary community of Glenbrook, Ashley and Kristen appreciate the short 12-minute commute they currently have but knew that the move to Harmony was the right choice for their family, balancing the now 20-25 minute commute with proximity to the mountains—the perfect compromise.

The amenities the William’s are looking forward to utilizing most are the lake, “I’m definitely looking at investing in a paddleboard,” as well as being able to “go for a walk or a run after work, and have everything this close.” As a golfing family, having Mickelson National Golf Club within walking distance means you’ll probably catch Ashley at the course most of the season.

The William’s chose to build a townhome in Harmony Park with Streetside Developments because of their great reputation, fantastic build quality, and wonderful floorplan offerings. “The wonderful thing about Harmony Park that separates it from a typical townhome project is the fact that it’s a fee-simple ownership model, which means you get the benefit of townhome living without the condo fees associated with it.”

Their end-unit townhome is a custom version of the C.2 floorplan which features three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a developed basement, triple-car garage, and an open-concept kitchen and living space. With a west-facing rear yard, their bedroom faces to the east so they can wake up to the beautiful views and sunlight coming in. The other bonus for their family, especially daughter Aleya, is that their townhome fronts onto Sunset Cove Park so she can visit anytime she wants to play and stretch her legs, and “mom can just peek out the window and see” her.

With possession coming up this May, they’re only weeks away from starting their exciting new life in Harmony.
