Season’s Greetings- A reflection of 2016

Wow – what a year 2016 has been!

As many do this time of year, we have been reflecting on the past year recently and we are humbled by the community that is taking shape in our corner of Springbank.  On the ground by way of tremendous construction achievements, in the homes, Discovery Centre and online with our growing network of friends and neighbours. On behalf of the Harmony Developments team, we want to thank you for being a part of Harmony this year and share this look back at the year that was 2016.

The Neighbourhood

Did you know that our first residents are now living in Harmony? Along with two stunning lottery homes (the Stars Lottery Grand Prize Home by Augusta Fine Homes and the Stampede Rotary Dream Home by Homes by Avi), Harmony’s outstanding builder group has delivered a noteworthy and award winning homes that local home buyers have been truly connecting with. We are so pleased that families will be enjoying their first snowy Christmas season in Harmony thiHarmony Tamarack Show Homess year.

From show homes opening in December of 2015 to now, with new custom and even spec homes from all of our builders, Harmony is really taking shape. We look forward to seeing more footprints in the snow as more families move into their brand new homes in the coming months (and years)!

And as the homes in our first stage have popped up, so have roads, landscaping, pathways throughout the first neighbourhood of Harmony. You can now walk among some of Harmony’s first open green spaces and enjoy wild flowers, the start of our tree program, ponds and even walk down to Harmony’s water front. As Harmony continues to grow, so will our extensive path network – so get your walking shoes ready! Paintbrush Park, directly across from our current show home parades, is in full swing. Currently home to a giant inflatable Santa, but not only that, it’s a great place for kids to burn some energy, get creative, or even for adults to have a moment of silence in a built-in reflection garden.

The Discovery Centre at Harmony

dc-aerial-still-photo-smThe Discovery Centre in Harmony officially opened in April of 2016 and quickly became the go-to resource for visitors wanting to learn about Harmony’s vision and overall community plan. It has also become a gathering space for residents, team members and any one in the area who wishes to stop by for a warm coffee and a chat, or to attend one of our many events.

Since April, the Discovery Centre has hosted events such as a Paint Night for Harmony residents, kids crafts, professional real estate seminars, a United Way “Brain Architecture” night for young families, and even the first annual Art in Harmony night, featuring the local Alberta Fine Art Collective. The Harmony Ambassadors are always ready to welcome you for a visit and to give you any available information about Harmony, so please come by and stay tuned for more event programming in 2017!

 Events

064Speaking of events, we are ever-thankful to those who have participated in our events over the last year. In April, our Discovery Centre Grand Opening saw hundreds of visitors come to Harmony to see the new facility. In June we hosted our first annual Fathers’ Day Picnic in Paintbrush Park, complete with games in the park, Spolumbos sandwiches, entertainment from Country 105 and more! The event was a huge success and we’ll be sure to order more food for next time!

Of course, we can’t forget our Fall Fair this October either. Also taking place in Paintbrush Park, we were thrilled to welcome small local businesses for our pop-up market and to see many of the hundreds of visitors leaving with fresh, local foods and other goods for their homes. The petting zoo and bouncy castle kept kids of all ages busy, while local food and coffee trucks kept everyone full.

If there’s one thing we like to do at Harmony, it’s throwing a good party, so once again stay tuned for next year’s big events!

Harmony Lake

dsc_9120We can’t talk about Harmony without mentioning one of our key amenities – the lake! The first portion of Harmony Lake was excavated, lined and filled to about 95% over the course of 2016. The current lake ‘A’, already the deepest manmade lake in Alberta at 40ft at its deepest, accounts for just 40 acres of what will eventually be approximately 140 acres of lake and wetland area. This amenity will not only be a recreational feature, with swimming, fishing and more possible, it is Harmony’s water supply and an essential part of Harmony’s Integrated Water Strategy. With Harmony’s Water Treatment Plant now fully operative, the Lake is already supplying water to community homes. We look forward to telling you more about our Water Treatment Plant in the new year, as well as introducing lake activities once the ice has melted!
