The snow was unseasonably absent on Sunday December 17th and in fact it was relatively balmy with clear prairie skies and the trademark Springbank breeze. The lack of winter however didn’t dampen the enthusiasm as over 200 of Harmony’s VIPs and their guests gathered for an afternoon of fun at the Discovery Centre in Harmony. Their first Resident Holiday Party, followed by our Light Up Harmony Christmas light competition, was hosted by the Ambassadors of Harmony and OAH (Owners’ Association of Harmony).
There were hot dogs, and plenty of holiday baking, mulled apple cider, hot chocolate, and fresh maple syrup treats from Springbank’s local ‘Sugar Shack’. We even had a visit from Santa, and families captured the memories with a really fun photo booth, hosted by Monique from Hip Image. Our board room became a gigantic craft table for the kids to make their own ornaments to take home. And when everyone needed a little fresh air from the jam packed building, our friends at Authentic Western Productions brought their team of horses, and trailer for a sleigh ride tour around the neighbourhood.
That night a group of judges from the OAH and HDI (Harmony Developments) walked the neighbourhood to judge the entrants who decked out their homes in holiday cheer. It was a tough decision- with some really awesome displays.
One thing that is very heart warming, is the very enthusiastic and supportive group of families – many with young children that have moved into their new homes this year. The sense of community and belonging has truly established itself, in just two short years into the life of this neighbourhood. We are already excited for next year -but we think we may need to find a way to make the Discovery Centre larger!
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season everyone.
