Good News for a Future School in Harmony

Rocky View County School District released their 2018-2021 Three Year Capital Plan. Harmony is thrilled to learn that it has increased the priority of a new Springbank K-9 School to a “Priority 5” in the 2018 budget year. This was previously at a Priority 17.   While the designated Springbank school system is excellent, Harmony having its own school for children to walk to is a significant goal to work towards.

The plan identified that Harmony is expected to have a population of 1200 residents by 2020, and accommodating students in its existing designated schools in Elbow Valley and Springbank Middle School will come to be very challenging. Therefore, additional high-quality schooling infrastructure is required to welcome the anticipated 1700 new Rocky View students in the community of Harmony.

“RVS has been working closely with the Developer and the County of Rockyview to ensure a site will be ready when new a school is to be constructed. The details of the site are in the process of being finalized and the site is expected to have services and RVS ownership by summer of 2018. There has been much discussion about opportunity of partnering with different organizations to enhance the use of this school for students and the greater community”.
